Thursday Thoughts – reviews

Reviews – do you read them?

Honestly, I almost never read reviews for books I’m about to read, but I do use reviews, mostly the stars when considering purchasing something. That being said, I know that reviews are crucial for businesses whether they are virtual, brick and mortar, selling services or selling things.

The ‘Zon remains murky in their explanations (0f almost everything!), but generally it is believed that one needs about 25-50 ratings of 4+stars to even show up in the first pages of results when someone searches. And how many of us actually review the things we buy? Even fewer people review the services they receive from companies. And did you know, that 3stars can actually be considered negative (such as ‘Zon again)? I always thought three stars was more or less neutral until I became reliant on reviews.

Anyway, let’s practice!

So let’s start practicing getting in the habit of leaving reviews, especially for the small sellers. Like a particular seller at the Farmers Market? Rave about them online or on their website. Really enjoyed a book, post a couple sentences in your social media and on Goodreads. Had fantastic service from your dog trainer? Send them an email and post it on their Google page. There are so many ways to leave reviews for almost everything. It only needs to take a couple minutes for your day, but it can mean the world to them.

Let’s start here. Every Thursday, I’ll try to remember to post a place for Thursday Thoughts. I tend to write more book reviews, but I’m trying to get in the habit of leaving reviews for services, too. Baby steps right? We start simple and then expand!

So drop a comment with a screenshot of your review or copy and paste it below. I’ll try to always go back and tag the businesses or authors or whatever, as well.

On behalf of all small businesses and creators – thank you!!
