While my intention may be to update my progress on Reading Challenges each week, I will definitely need your help to remember! Here are my updates for Week Four of January.
As a reminder, my current challenges are ones that run through the year, there are two others starting in April & June:
Goodreads challenge: 11/120
Book-opoly for a game of monopoly with each square being a genre or challenge. I haven’t moved any farther on this challenge yet as I need to wait for February for my next rolls.
2021 Beachcomber Mystery Reading Challenge In this challenge you pack your bags with mystery characters, scenes, weapons, and victims. I did a re-listen to the book The Demon Next Door, a documentary about a serial killer. One could argue it’s not a mystery, but I think it loosely fits the bill.
2021 Medical Examiner’s Mystery Reading Challenge Get ready to start filling out toe tags for characters murdered. Likewise, I used The Demon Next Door for this. Most of the women the killer attacked lived through the assaults, but not all. Also The Night She Disappeared, but (doh!) I forgot about the suicide when I was writing out the toe tags and shorted myself.
I’m climbing Stormness Head through the Virtual Mount TBR Challenge. Keeping track of these peaks will help me keep track of my Goodreads challenge too, I sometimes forget to update on that. #VirtualMountTBR2021. The books that I completed this week were mostly not borrowed so I only can record The Night She Disappeared on the Virtual Mount challenge.
I finished the book, A Court of Mist and Fury, then immediately downloaded A Court of Wings and Ruin. I did well though and restrained myself from starting this third book in the series at 9pm! I also read Fire Within the Storm for the purpose of a book review. This book has an intricate plot with shifting characters and I think I would have enjoyed it more had I read the first book as well. You can see my review here. I read a few others for the purpose of reviews, but they were not entertaining so I do not include them in the “fun” challenges.
Your turn: What books have you read or are you reading? Are you in any of these challenges, I would love to hear about your progress!! Friend me on Goodreads and we can cheer each other on!
