Author Interview with Shyy J Farnsworth

I took a bit of a pause from author interviews for a while, my life was crazy at the beginning of summer. Now, the wonderful Shyy J Farnsworth has been here sharing amazingness! She answered all of my questions and offered up a little more for us to get to know her.

We Want to Know You!

Let’s welcome this awesome author! The #1 important thing for me [to share] is definitely my Author pen name, I have never really been a fan of my government name because no one can pronounce it the correct way, and when I was in school my childhood best friend (who is still my best friend til this day) gave me my nickname that I have held onto since that day, Shyy. The J is just from my maiden name then the last name is my married name. Giving you Shyy J. Farnsworth.

How did you know you had this book in you? I had no clue that I was going to write this book since my goal is to write and publish Fantasy Romance, but now I think the best way to describe what I write is to say that I do a mix of both Romance and Fantasy Adventure.

Can you describe your writing process? The vast majority of the 20+ books that I plan to write have all started with me having a dream about the characters, well most of them, some of them I have to thank my husband for since some of  the characters started off as his, I have just helped develop them into a few series. Other than that I’m just your average panster.

Time to Share!

How do you know your piece is ready to be shared/complete? When I get to the dream part, most of my dreams tend to be the end of the book. And that’s if I haven’t made the book into a series, which has happened with all of my books so far.

Who is your expected audience? For now it’s Adults, but now that I am a mom I’m considering doing a couple of children’s books as well, under a different pen name of course.

Who has been your strongest supporter? That award definitely goes to my husband, when we got together and he found out that I was a writer trying to become a Author like himself he has helped me come up with ideas to focus on, and helped me build a Fantasy world for all of our characters to exist together.

Writing Challenges

What is your greatest challenge in writing? That would be finishing, I get too many things started and then continue to get distracted on other stories.

What surprised you in the writing process? That everyone ends up planning at least a little bit, even if they don’t notice that they did it.

Is there something in particular, that you found particularly helpful? Music is a big help in general, it helps me stay in the world that I’m writing in instead of paying too much attention to what’s going on around me (outside of my child of course).

Research can be Fun!

I know we tend to write what we know, but did you need to do research for this book? Not for this book in particular, but definitely have been doing research for my debut novel and the prequel that I’m writing for it.

If so, what was the coolest or most surprising thing you learned? That Africa has been around for 10,000+ years with humans living there.

Other Influences

If you could have any author (alive, dead, or fictional) read your book, who would you like to read it? Not sure, I hadn’t thought about it.

What author, or book, or series most influenced you? Smauggy Universe, after reading all of her books it helped me realize that if I want to publish that I can and that it could definitely end up being some interesting stuff.
