Psst! Tuesday Teaser of In The end

Hey, hey, we have another Tuesday Teaser! This is a YA debut novel called, In The End, by Kellee Kranendonk.

Jeremy was gone, as if he’d never materialized in the room. Téa wasn’t sure he really had. His image had been there, but was it really him? Jeremy Noble, Leif’s brother? Or was it just some shadow image of him, like the teacher and the kids in the classroom? But he’d had a face, while they hadn’t.

She was sure though, the paint (blood?) on her finger was real. She stared at it, trying to determine what exactly it was. Gingerly, she sniffed it.

“What are you doing?”

Téa jumped, smudging a bit of red stuff on her nose. She whirled on Leif “What?”

He put his hands up, palms out. “Jeez, calm down. I just asked what you were doing.” Then he looked at her nose and bit back a grin. She ignored it and reached her hand out towards him. “What is that?”

“I don’t know. Paint?” He glanced at the floor, frowning.

Téa sighed. Now she had to tell him. Well, she didn’t have to but maybe it would make things easier. Maybe this was a clue. “Look, Gate and I came down here yesterday. . . or sometime before. . . back in reality. It was dark, and creepy, and there was wet red stuff on the floor.”

For a moment he just stared at her. Then he grabbed her wrist, sniffed the goop on her finger then grimaced. “Ew, Tèa, that’s gross.”

“What is it?” She sniffed it again.

“I don’t know exactly. Smells like a mix of paint and blood.”
